Project Description

IS2 LLC undertook the electrical work for Old Navy's new tenant space, which involved disconnecting and safely removing existing electrical components, salvaging reusable parts, installing a new electrical system, and providing a temporary power solution crucial for operating equipment, ensuring safety through adequate lighting, enabling the testing of installed systems, improving work efficiency, and offering flexibility to scale power needs. The scope of work included all tenant wiring, power receptacles, electrical equipment, and conduits with pull strings for low-voltage installations. We also provided power for exterior signage and blade signs, installed owner-furnished light fixtures, and furnished all necessary unistrut and threaded rods. Additionally, the project required underground trenching, conduit installation, floor boxes for cash-wrap and self-checkout areas, and powering rooftop A/C units.

Overcoming Challenges

Challenges: Sales Floor Delays

Our team encountered several issues that delayed the installation of lights and unistrut in the 10,000 square foot sales floor by two weeks. These challenges included:

  • Mechanical RFIs (Requests for Information)
  • Flooring rework
  • Light fixture delivery delays
Solutions Implemented

To overcome these challenges and get the project back on track, our team implemented the following solutions:

  • Lean Construction Practices: Minimized waste and ensured each step added value.
  • Effective Communication and Planning: Maintained close communication with the general contractor and strategically allocated our workforce to critical areas.
  • Technological Integration: Utilized advanced scheduling and project management software to keep the project on track and within budget.
