IS2's and DataNet Solutions' project management team
IS2 LLC was commissioned to undertake a complex telecom project in Edna, Texas. The project involved removing an existing equipment shelter, demolishing the old foundation, and installing a new unmanned equipment shelter on a concrete foundation. The scope of work included setting up a new 200 AMP electrical service, implementing a grounding plan according to Motorola's R56 standards, and installing a 75 kW Generac LPG generator with a 500-gallon tank, all secured within an 8-foot chain-link fence.
Throughout the Edna project, the team at IS2 LLC encountered several significant challenges:
Discovered about 3 feet below ground, requiring innovative soil stabilization and surface treatments to improve the bearing capacity without extensive excavation.
The project timeline was compressed due to the time spent on soil stabilization and required changes in the design. The team employed lean construction practices, permanent monitoring, advanced scheduling software, and flexible adjustments to stay on track.
The shelter's concrete base's initial design had structural issues. IS2 LLC quickly notified stakeholders, conducted a detailed analysis, and proposed a revised solution. Accelerating the work schedule and enhancing communication kept the project on track.
The Edna telecom project was a resounding success:
The collaboration with DataNet Solutions was characterized by transparent communication, regular feedback loops, and joint problem-solving sessions.
The project was completed on time despite the challenges, with no safety incidents or OSHA violations.
Thanks to IS2 LLC's efforts, the prime contractor, DataNet Solutions, could meet its commitments to its client and Texas DOT.
